Welcome to Mead Hall Sacred Studies! Students attend Sacred Studies as well as an age-appropriate chapel service each week.
3K and 4K lessons come from Godly Play, which focuses on children being part of the story, Big, Big God, which teaches about God’s power and love, and It’s a Snap, which invites children to learn about, celebrate, and worship God. We will sing, move, and use arts and crafts to help with learning.
5K lessons come from Bible Lessons for Little People, which begins to group stories thematically. We will sing, act out, and use projects to reinforce learning.
The 1st Grade curriculum comes from Explore Bible Stories. We will use an age-appropriate Bible to begin reading and discussing stories from both the Old and New Testaments.
The 2nd Grade curriculum is Follow the Bible. It is similar to the 1st grade book, but begins to go into greater detail and students will learn about important Biblical figures.
In 3rd Grade students will learn about specific biblical characteristics through stories. Students will learn about the structure of the Bible and focus on specific Biblical figures.
In 4th Grade students will continue to study biblical characteristics in bible stories and will expand what they have learned into their current lives and real world applications. Fourth graders are also our chapel helpers. Students rotate through the year with different chapel duties such as reading, acolyting, or carrying the cross.
I encourage you to ask your children what they are learning in Sacred Studies. Ask your students what stories they have learned, who their favorite bible character is, or what they would like to share with you. You are always welcome at Mead Hall chapel services. If you have any questions, please contact me.
